The NHS is to trial free e-cigarette starter packs this autumn in an incentive to help smokers quit!
We at Riot Squad are all for it, it’s exciting for us as part of the vape industry to see the NHS back e-cigarettes as a viable means to quit smoking, acknowledging that e-cigarettes carry a small fraction of the (health) risks of cigarettes.
The NHS look to recruit 1000 smokers for the trial looking closely at the number of people who quit smoking and calculating how much it will cost to roll out the scheme nationally. They will distribute them to people who come into A&E and say they are smokers.
This comes as Public Health England (PHE) and Cochrane England led by oxford university and involving the university of east anglia (uea) both published reviews that indicate that e-cigarettes are around 95% less harmful than tobacco. These landmark independent reviews estimate that e-cigarettes have the potential to help smokers quit.
